PROJECT UPDATE!!

In a year of such financial uncertainty, we didn’t know how much money to expect for the 2020 project which lead us to have a more conservative goal than previous years. However, we were once again amazed to witness the generosity of so many people and we surpassed our fund-raising goal by 85% and raised a total of:

$37,036

With this money we were able to cover the costs of the following items:

  • Teaching Christmas Bonus

  • Salary for a New Physical Education Teacher Position

  • Uniforms for the Basketball and Volleyball teams

  • French Textbooks

  • Musical Instruments

  • More Solar Lamps

And with the extra funds raised were even able to help pay for the construction of a new Volleyball Court!!

See below for pictures of the impact of the this years project:

Developing & Resourcing Teachers & Programs

Perhaps the most critical component to the school being a success is ensuring the teachers are properly trained and have everything they need to do their job. That is why this year we are focusing on making sure the incredibly hard working teachers at Karubabi Harvest school get the training, resources and professional development they need to do their job well. We’ve also asked them to identify various needs for programs they have been dreaming to start. Below is a list of needs we’ll be funding with this year’s project donations:

  • Teacher Training Weekend

  • Teacher Christmas Bonus

  • Salary for a New Physical Education Teacher Position

  • Uniforms for the Basketball and Volleyball teams

  • French Textbooks

  • Musical Instruments

  • More Solar Lamps

To cover these costs, our Fundraising goal this year is: $20,000

If we raise more than our goal, additional funds will be used towards the construction of a new volleyball court.

The School at Karubabi, Muramvya

Karubabi Harvest School has become a beacon of hope in the province Muramvya. In a country long plagued by ethnic divisions and severe poverty, the school is helping bring ethnic groups together, providing meals for kids who otherwise wouldn't have any, and raising up a generation, who for the first time, are receiving an education.

This school has the potential to transform a community; to bring unity amongst the ethnic groups; to raise leaders who will transform their world for Jesus. And already this is happening.
