Thank you to everyone that supported our project this year!

we were blown away by the generosity and number of people that supported the project this year. We far SURPASSED our goal and raised $24,266! With this money we were able to buy a solar lantern for every student in the school + more French books for the library and learning aids for the KINDERGARTEN class.

Our Project This Year - Bringing Light to the Darkness

Every year we ask Karubabi Harvest School to identify a physical need that we could help address with 10-15k dollars. This year they identified providing solar lamps for each students as a goal for our Giving Project.

Burundi is located very close to the equator which means the sun goes down early all year round. Since many of the students walk a long distance to get to school, it is often dark by the time they get home. A majority of the students are living in homes with little or no access to electricity and cannot afford other options for providing consistent light at home. Having a solar lamp will create the opportunity for kids to read and do school work at home which has a significant impact on the quality of their education. The solar lamps we are purchasing for this project are sold in Burundi, which eliminates shipping costs and helps contribute to the Burundian economy.

Any additional funds raised beyond necessary for reaching this goal will go towards the continued filling of the library that was started last year with our 2017 Giving Project.
